Green Chemistry

Our country is going through a continuing shift towards embracing environmentally healthy “Green” technologies. The standard way of doing things is being challenged on many fronts. Wind generated power, increased recycling and renewable fuels are just a few examples that can be found in the news on a daily basis.

US Water Services is proud to be an industry leader in this trend. An “Energy Star” Partner since 2004, we have long been committed to reducing energy consumption and environmental pollution at our customer sites.

We were one of the first companies to embrace Reverse Osmosis systems for water pre-treatment in industrial applications, both large and small. The resulting reduction in fuel consumption for steam generation is significant, and besides reducing greenhouse gases, it usually pays for the equipment in one year or less. Early last year, in response to requests from municipal waste treatment facilities, we developed a line of cooling water treatment products that was free of any molybdate. Discharge of this particular chemical is being restricted in many areas due to its impact on the environment.

We have long been successful helping industrial waste water treatment facilities meet their discharge permit limits, and to reduce plant water usage through gray water re-use. Our most successful effort so far was the design and start-up of the first water treatment plant that allows for Zero Liquid Discharge at an ethanol plant. All the water at this California facility is recycled or evaporated, and nothing goes into the local streams.

Chemistry
Whether removing newly restricted components from our treatment chemistries, or developing new ways to remove contaminants from waste streams, we are constantly working to minimize our customer’s environmental impact.

Engineering
Our design team has created some of the most cutting edge water treatment systems in the country. They are helping our customer’s reduce or eliminate water discharge, and recycle gray water.

Equipment

One of the first water treatment companies to embrace Reverse Osmosis systems in industrial systems both large and small, we have helped our customer’s reduce fuel costs and CO2 emissions significantly.
