Legionella Risk Management
Integrated Water Management for Legionella Control
Minimizing the risks associated with Legionella bacteria in building water systems can be challenging; and without the right expertise it may put your facility at an increased risk for Legionella associated infections.
U.S. Water is committed to working with building owners and facility managers to help plan strategies and implement concise, effective water treatment programs for reducing the risk associated with waterborne pathogens, including Legionella, in cooling towers and other building systems,
Why Our Approach Works For You
U.S. Water's integrated solutions are designed to provide complete water treatment programs which include reducing the risk associated with waterborne pathogens, including Legionella, and the prevention of scale & corrosion.
This program incorporates the following features:
- Complete biocide programs
- Legionella testing services by approved ELITE laboratories
- Cooling tower inspection services
- Chemical feed automation programs
- Cooling tower cleaning services

- Compliance assistance with state reporting requirements
U.S. Water Capabilities
Legionella Management Programs
In order to provide a safe workplace for staff members, clients and the general public, creating a Legionella risk management program is the first step in minimizing the risk to the building. U.S. Water works closely with clients and risk management consultants, contributing our expertise in water treatment chemistry and biocide recommendations that need to be part of a risk minimization plan. Current ANSI/ASHRAE standard 188-2015 and the CTI Guideline: Best Practices for Control of Legionella are working documents that U.S. Water uses for reference on Legionella risk mitigation programs.
U.S. Water features a full in-house laboratory with state of the art equipment and technology.
Our in-house analytical laboratory is capable of:
- Legionella & Bacteria Testing
- Resin Analysis
- Test Kits
- RO Membrane Autopsy
- Elution Studies
- Safety Data Sheet Support
- Laboratory Equipment
- Particle Analysis
- Whole Water Analysis
- Elemental Analysis
U.S. Water Reports™ Monitoring System
U.S. Water Reports™ provides a clear and concise monitoring tool for water system performance. Reports give building engineers insight into past problems, current performance levels and areas where improvement can be achieved. This information helps building engineers ensure that water treatment chemistry is maintained and operational costs are being held in check.
U.S. Water Reports™ provides:
- Real Time Analysis
- Documented Improvements
- Easy Accessibility via Internet
- Better System Communication Between Staff
- Water System Performance History
Advanced Cooling Tower Controls
LEEDS Credits Available
With reduced manpower availability, more facilities require better control of the chemical feed program to the towers in order to optimize water, sewage and chemical costs. U.S. Water uses an advanced cooling water treatment monitor and feed system that allows instant access to all key parameters. The monitoring is wireless and provides instant alerts on water treatment issues.
How Can U.S. Water Help?
U.S. Water is a national water treatment company, with in-depth experience in disinfection and on-going control of microbiological growth in cooling towers. Our integrated approach includes treatment chemistry, disinfection protocols, water treatment automation, inspection services and cooling tower cleaning services.
Our experienced local Field Representatives are experts in industrial and commercial water treatment programs. Whether your facility has a current disinfection strategy or is looking to have an improved Legionella risk management program, U.S. Water has comprehensive treatment packages that will help your facility stay in regulatory compliance.

In June of 2015, the ASHRAE standards committee approved the final draft of Standard 188, Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems. This document establishes the minimum requirements for the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of a legionella risk management program in new and existing buildings. The Standard is a culmination of several years of work by experts in the fields of engineering, biology and environmental health. The final version of Standard 188-2015 can be obtained from the ASHRAE website www.ashrae.org.Find out more
